TongFu makes changes

LongDD leaves TongFu and is currently at LGD.cn on a trial status. The player he was rumored to replace, LGD.DD, has not however actually left LGD and is merely late joining up with the rest of the team due to needing surgery and recovery time.

The other change in TongFu comes in the form of Yaodao/Veronica, who had previously been rumored to have grown tired of competitive Dota and wished to retire. Now, he’s left TongFu and we’re all left wondering if this is the end for him, or if he’ll continue on elsewhere.

With these two departures, TongFu have brought in former For.Love player Banana, and yAobAi, formerly of PanDa, where he’d been embroiled in non-payment of salary issues. These two newcomers have all been teammates of Hao’s in the past, so teamwork should not be a big problem. And just like that, TongFu’s roster is complete once again, and surely their overall ability is worthy of anticipation.

In last night’s G-League 2012 Season 2 Dota match, TongFu defeated ForLove by a score of 2-0 to advance to the semi-finals. Afterwards, we interviewed Sansheng, who had exceptional performance in the match. He not only gave us his thoughts on the match, but also responded to some rumors floating around on forums recently…

Gamefy: First off, congratulations to TongFu for their win over ForLove to advance to the semi-finals. Can Sansheng please analyze the match for us?

TongFu.Sansheng: Earlier today we had been talking about picking rosters better suited to us. Following adjustments from yesterday, we performed better today. Additionally, our opponent made some mistakes, so we managed to get the win.

Gamefy: After the match, (commentator) Haitao gave high marks for your performance, how do you rate yourself today?

TongFu.Sansheng: My performance today was indeed better than average, yesterday we were in relatively worse form. I actually don’t use Chen much, perhaps the opponent was unprepared for him.

Gamefy: In the semi-finals you will face LGD.int, have you guys analyzed this team before?

TongFu.Sansheng: Normally they often train with us. Their style and picks are all very precise and intentional. If it’s a pushing lineup, they can pull out many unexpected heroes, and create very logical combinations. They favor going hard with a defensive trilane against another trilane on the suicide lane, because foreign teams’ ace is early pushing. Each one of them has great individual ability; LGD.int is a formidable opponent.

Gamefy: Lately there has been quite a bit of talk regarding stuff about you, what’s that all about?

TongFu.Sansheng: To be honest, that’s all fake, because there really doesn’t exist anything of that sort. Some people have just spread falsehoods upon falsehoods, the resulting being very awkward for everyone. So, if all anyone has heard is rumors, there is no point at all to believe it.

Gamefy: If TongFu can defeat LGD.int, it will be the first time TongFu makes it to a G-League finals, and many of your fans will want to see this. Anything to say to these fans?

TongFu.Sansheng: Thank you to all the fans who have continued to support us, thank you to TongFu Bowl Porridge, and i-Rocks for their support, we will do our best to provide exciting matches for everyone.

 

 

G-League semi-finals interview with LGD.DD and LGD manager Nicholas

In last night’s G-League 2012 Season 2 Dota2 elimination match, LGD.cn managed to snatch a last-gasp victory against new and improving VG, and thus stride into the semi-finals. Afterwards, we got an interview with LGD player DD/Sc and LGD team lead Nicholas to hear what they had to say about this match, and any hopes for the semi-finals.

Gamefy: First, congrats to LGD for winning over VG and making it to the final four, how do you feel?

LGD.DD: I’m feeling decent, pretty happy.

Gamefy: Where do you think you lost in game two?

LGD.DD: We lost early game in the 3v3 lane. We did not deal with it very well, and then we made a bunch of mistakes, resulting in all three lanes growing very poorly. That tripped us up and we never recovered, so we lost.

Gamefy: In the beginning of the third game, you were also slightly behind. What kind of adjustments did you guys make to pull the game back, and ultimately achieve the win?

LGD.DD: Because VG is a new team, so we were waiting all along for them to make mistakes, since they cannot possibly be as experienced and savvy as teams like DK, iG, and shut their opponents out completely. They overextended in that assault on the top lane high ground, which let us counter-wipe them there. At that point, the game’s momentum had begun swinging back in our favor, and by the time we had two Sheepsticks on our team, the game was favoring us 60-40 at that point. In the end, their Lifestealer couldn’t buy back, and it was then that were sealed the win.

Gamefy: After having fought against VG, what thoughts do you have on this team?

LGD.DD: This team previously trained with us in Hangzhou, and we often went to each other’s team house to play. They’ve got excellent training environment and benefits, so if they can focus and continue improving, they will absolutely produce results.

Gamefy: Your opponents in the next match are iG, whom can be said to have cruised through their group like a hungry person eats soup. Facing a team in such great form as them, have you found any weaknesses with which to attack them?

LGD.DD: Let’s just hope they don’t drink us up like they drink soup, and we at least have some back and forth action.

Gamefy: Now that both LGD squads have made it into the semi-finals here, as team lead what are your feelings?

LGD.Nicholas: Very pleased. After all, G-League is one of the major competitions for us here in China. Our LGD.cn squad has been together for relatively longer, and have always had pretty good results, so their progress at this tournament was within my expectations, even if the path they’ve taken so far hasn’t been the smoothest. As for the LGD.int squad, their advancement from their group made me very happy. Because they joined LGD around the same time I was brought on, their achievements in just two months of time has left me really excited, and thanks goes to our boss for making such an epic decision in forming LGD.int.

Gamefy: Your two squads are facing iG and TongFu respectively, which of them do you think has the better chances of making it to the finals?

LGD.Nicholas: Shouldn’t say which is more likely, although LGD.int versus TongFu has slightly higher chances, while LGD.cn facing in-form iG will definitely have a tough fight. Of course, my hope is that both squads make it to the finals, but I feel that playing iG will be very hard.

Gamefy: If both squads make it to the finals, will there be any bonuses from the club?

LGD.Nicholas: Haha, after this interview I should call Ruru, and ask her what might come. Firstly the boss will certainly be delighted, and as for any bonus, it’ll have to wait ’till we have a team meeting.

Gamefy: There should be a gap between the semi-finals and finals due to Chinese New Year, how do you plan to handle that if one or both squads make it to the finals?

LGD.Nicholas: For LGD.int, they should be participating in some foreign online competitions, because in Europe and North America there are plenty of these kinds of competitions. Although, they’ll be in five different countries, and online conditions might be unstable, so they’ll probably mostly play some pubs. As for LGD.cn, because most of them are from Hunan, training should still be pretty convenient.

Famed overseas Chinese Dota player ZhaoYun has in recent days been rumored to be considering a return to competitive Dota/Dota2, in addition to returning to China to help build a mysterious new team. Sgamer’s Dota reporter XiaoShou managed to contact him for an interview, and in the interview he revealed that he was indeed making preparations to return to the scene, and had nothing but praise for the recent TI2 in Seattle. And Chinese teams’ performances in TI2, as well as Dota2’s outstanding production quality are the factors that led to his decision. Lastly, he suggested that it was a possibility for him to join TongFu, and help them build a new international squad for competitions in 2013. Let us take a look at the details~

SGamer (SG): Thank you ZhaoYun for accepting this interview with Sgamer.com. First off, say hello to all the Dota fans out there?

ZhaoYun (ZY): Hello everyone, I am ZhaoYun, it’s been quite a while.

SG: Remember that last time we interviewed you, you said you hoped to go back to China to play professionally, but then how come we never heard from you again after that?

ZY: I married the person I loved in my heart, and so I left Dota for a long time.

SG: At the time everyone thought you would go and join Chisbug and LongDD’s team, and thus create the ultimate combo of ZhaoYun and Zilong (heroes in Chinese lore).

ZY: Yeah, at the time it was something I also really anticipated, but that period of time I was way too busy, and then after half a year it seemed like I had lost a lot of passion for Dota.

SG: Can you tell everyone a bit about your recent situation?

ZY: Yep, recently I’ve just been working, when I have a bit of time I go play some Texas Hold’em at the casino, watch some sports, and in spare time play some Dota2 (Dotabuff profile).

SG: What do you see in the future for the development of Dota and Dota2?

ZY: Seems like most players have gotten used to Dota2, I feel that Dota2 has already replaced Dota, and honestly speaking I think Dota2 has been done excellently.

SG: At this year’s TI2, what are your views on Chinese teams’ performances?

ZY: At the time, I hadn’t played much Dota in quite a bit, it’s only been the past few months that I’ve gotten back into playing. But I watched TI2, practically every important match I watched, and Chinese teams performed exceptionally; for Chinese teams their biggest feature is that they are steady.

SG: Do you feel that currently there still exists a big gap between Chinese and Western teams, especially North American Dota?

ZY: This is something that I think everyone is very clear on, TI2’s results say everything.

SG: What do you think has allowed LoL to spread so widely, have you played this game before?

ZY: I’ve watched some friends play it, I think the graphics are too flashy, feels like it’s more geared towards female players. And it seems like its tempo is a bit slower than Dota. I don’t really like LoL, it looks like a low skill game.

SG: Heard that you created a new team lately, can you introduce the team and its players for us?

ZY: Yeah, they’re all former teammates and friends. March, Mystyle, Swissbeatz, and Zaku I’m sure everyone still remembers. And then there is Solara, who should be known by some people in North America. Unfortunately March graduated, and is about to head back to South Korea, so in the future we won’t have many chances to play together anymore. Here I also want to wish this good friend of mine smooth sailing in life from here on!

SG: What are your upcoming plans?

ZY: First try and participate in lots of competitions, practice with the team and build understanding. At the same time, look for new sponsors. There has been contact with some teams back in China, and there’s a possibility that we will take the form of an international squad for a certain team and represent them in competitions that way.

SG: Which club, can you reveal?

ZY: TongFu.

SG: Okay, we hope that ZhaoYun’s return to professional Dota can bring us new things, any last words for our fans?

ZY: Diaoyu Islands are China’s (Dotaland note: aka the Senkaku Islands)!

TongFu.Hao: Hello everyone, I am Hao

RN: This is the first time Dota is on the WCG stage (even though it’s technically just exhibitions), is there any pressure in representing China?

Hao: No pressure, we absolutely will not lose, and even if we lose it will be in the finals to LGD.

RN: Then your goal is?

Hao: Top 2!

RN: Apart from LGD which we’re obviously all very familiar with, there are some other teams from different places such as South Korea, Mongolia, and they are teams that we’re all not very familiar with. When you come up against these unfamiliar teams do you and other Chinese teams anticipate having any problems?

Hao: There should be a bit. Because these teams, we completely lack any knowledge of their style and preferred tactics. What heroes they use, what we should ban or pick, all things that we aren’t very clear on, so we can only rely on our own strongest systems.

RN: Currently most big Chinese teams have moved to training mostly for Dota2, so is there difficulty in finding practice partners for Dota1 now? (Dotaland note: TongFu will be representing China at WCG in Dota1) Do you have specific training for Dota1 right now, how is it going?

Hao: Yes, it’s very difficult, because nowadays there’s no one training Dota1 anymore. So the 5 of us can only run 5-man stacks on ladder to get re-acclimated to the feel of Dota1.

RN: You just brought up ladder, so what are your ladder rankings, what’s your win rate like?

Hao: Rankings are not all the same. Anywhere between 2300-2500… win rate… if all 5 of us are together, 90% or so.

RN: While you frantically prepare for WCG, there is also the G-League Dota2 competition, how do you balance your training focus? On the official TongFu blog posts we often see that you guys order delivery for meals, is this level of training causing any sort of exhaustion? And do you have any events or activities at your base to relax a bit?

Hao: Because we’re just about to go play WCG matches, so these couple days we haven’t trained any Dota2. After we get back from WCG, the plan is to only play Dota2, because we still need to prepare for G-League. About the food, it’s okay, we only get delivery when our house maid is on holiday or after she leaves at night, and it’s not too bad. We all laugh and joke around, in the past we used to play cards. Nowadays we don’t play cards anymore, because we’re all hungry for results to prove ourselves, so this recent period all we’ve been doing everyday is training.

RN: LGD’s ddc cannot compete (WCG nationality rules), will this give you more confidence for your matchup?

Hao: Yes, because ddc is an extremely strong player, I feel that LGD without ddc is the same impact as iG without ChuaN. But KingJ should not be overlooked either, but we still have confidence.

RN: How have TongFu’s new roster additions longdd and Veronica come along? Your form and teamwork, have they met your expectations?

Hao: It’s been alright. A lot better than earlier. As for expectations, still a ways off… but when we built this current roster, the goal was always the next International.

RN: Dota2 China servers are close to arriving. For you, are there any functionalities that Steam currently lacks that you’d like to see?

Hao: None; as long as it’s playable it’s good. We all greatly look forward to China servers, because currently playing on Steam means we have really poor connections. The Shanghai server is un-usable, so we can only use the SEA server in Singapore. If China servers come online, then we can use those, and our training will have higher quality to it…

In their debut at the G-League 2012 Season 2 preliminary stages, Dota2 newcomer team VG crushed Noah’s Ark by a score of 2-0, easily advancing to the Round of 8. Afterwards, we managed to get an interview with VG team lead Fengdidi (Dotaland note: his name translated literally is “wind little brother”)

SG: Hello, very glad to have Fengdidi do this interview with us, why don’t you say hi to everyone?

Fengdidi (Fdd): Hi everyone, I am PandaPanPan (Dotaland note: another ID of his from when he was a player)

SG: First of all congratulations to VG for the victory over NA in advancing to the round of 8!

Fdd: Thank you!

SG: As for many of VG’s players, it’s fair to assume that many fans have yet to come to know. Fengdidi can you introduce to us some information about your team?

Fdd: Our team was officially formed on October 21 (of this year), though before today we hadn’t gone live with it. The team currently has training in Hangzhou’s Westlake District.

SG: Can you please introduce us to your players?

Fdd: Apart from former TyLoo player xiao7, everyone else is pretty much new to the scene. For now we have CTY playing carry, the god of war xiao7 as solo, captain Fenrir and fy as supports, Xtt as the 3. (Dotaland note: due to being new players, their English IDs aren’t as established and these may not be authoritative names)

SG: Then we must ask, with all these new players, what led you to choose them in the formation of this new team?

Fdd: In the Dota circle I’ve looked at and considered many players. Over a long period of consideration, in addition to my own personal observations, I ended up going with these five players. After coming together and training for a month, so far I’ve been pretty satisfied/

SG: Can we ask a bit about the players’ living arrangements?

Fdd: All the arrangements are pretty ideal, food and lodging are all quite ideal. Everyone has their own room. And the base is in a very nice environment.

SG: How do you arrange and set up your training? With such massive progress here, can you reveal anything for us?

Fdd: The rules I’ve set for the players is to finish eating by noon, and then begin the day’s training. If there’s no training partner then they play as a 5 man group online, so for now the results have been pretty good over the past month. The players themselves are also pretty dedicated. In addition I also regularly join them so we can play 3v3 to practice laning.

SG: We heard Fengdidi you also used to be a pro player, what has led to you becoming a team manager now?

Fdd: Last year I played with Panda for a year, and went through quite a bit. This year I spent half a year chilling at home, until my current boss contacted me saying that he wanted to form a team, so I began work on making that happen. Why I don’t play professionally anymore is because I’m comparatively noob nowadays, plus I’m old now.

SG: Talk a bit about your match against NA, what are your thoughts on how the players performed?

Fdd: Their performance was within my expectations. The team trained for a month, before that they didn’t even know how Dota2, so this entire month I’ve been with them in training, explaining things to them, so now that they’ve defeated NA, I feel that it’s all expected. Especially since NA recently hasn’t been training Dota2.

SG: Your win over NA was also within my expectations. Want to make a prediction for the match between TongFu and N9?

Fdd: As for predictions, I definitely hope TongFu can win, after all many of their players were teammates of mine in the past, and I really hope to be able to meet them in Shanghai. Plus, we stack every night to play Dota2!

SG: After defeating NA, surely other teams will begin to take notice of you and take you more seriously. What do you think of your chances of advancing to the semifinals?

Fdd: Advancing to the semifinals we’ll have to look at our performance and luck, so the specific chances aren’t something I can comfortably conclude right now!
